Meet your guide in the reception area for your transfer to the Waterfront where you will visit the Robben Island Museum. Your tour includes a Robben Island ferry ticket (weather permitting and subject to availability).  11 km out of Cape Town lies Robben island, a true symbol of triumph over adversity. A 3.5 hour tour of the museum on the island begins at the Mandela Gateway at the V&A Waterfront. After a 45-minute ferry ride, visitors take a tour of the former maximum-security jail, followed by a 45 minute bus ride around the island. Robben Island is where former late political prisoner Mr. Nelson Mandela and others developed their concepts for a post-apartheid South Africa, concepts that led to the overthrow of a brutal regime and the development of the one of the world’s most liberal democracies.

Note: On request, lunch stop is for your own account at a local formal African restaurant based in the township and entertained with live music and storytelling from the owners. Should you be interested to support our local handmade crafts and souvenirs, it is best to have cash on hand.

If your Robben Island tour is cancelled due to bad weather, contact us for a township cultural experience.  We can meet you at the Clock Tower in front of the Robben Island Museum at 10:00 for the first trip. The second tour starts at 14:00. For bookings at short notice, please allow 30 minutes waiting time for your pick-up.

A minimum of 2 people is required for this tour.  Since this is a very popular destination, 3 days notice is needed to ensure the availability of tickets.
