If you’re considering a tour guide in Cape Town look no further than Cape Friendly Tours. Four of us from Toronto (Two couples) recently spent three unforgettable days exploring with Jimmy and his colleague Buja, and the experience was exceptional from start to finish. We learnt a great deal from his local knowledge and expertise — there was not a single questions I asked that he couldn’t answer fully, generously and wisely. ( I am a social science professor, and I have many questions. )

Jimmy exceeded my expectations. I hadn’t signed for any specific tour, but he knew exactly where to take me. He is very knowledgeable and personable, and I learned so much about cape town’s history and culture with him. During the first day, Jimmy walked with me through Bo-Kaap, a shantytown and a community center, allowing me to immerse myself in the culture. He explained both the challenges and the hopes of the people, answering all my questions honestly. That personal connection with was my favorite part.

JIMMY is the best! I am a travel advisor and booked Jimmy w/Cape Friendly Tours for a personal Capetown trip with my husband and our friends (another couple) for Roundtrip Airport Transfers, Roundtrip Capetown Port Transfers, 3 full days of tours of all of the sights of Capetown and even the surrounding Vineyards in Constantia and Stellenbosch. Jimmy was so informative, easy to understand and passionate about everything with great recommendations from where to eat, amazing Vineyards (Waterford Estate Stellenbosch) that were a must visit and were not tourist traps riddled with tour buses. JIMMY made our amazing trip to South Africa even more amazing and memorable and we became “Family”. We can’t recommend JIMMY enough for all of your Capetown transfers and private tours! Jimmy is an absolutely amazing tour guide. Started with a safari, which was the only plan, and ended up experiencing and seeing the amazing must not miss locations in Cape Town. After the Safari since it was still early Jimmy said Table Mountain was a must do which we did, and it was so cool being up there. I had talked about Bo Kaap so of course Jimmy said OK if you want to go, we can go. I would definitely recommend him to anyone that visits. I’ll be back again and will make sure I check in for my experiences lead by Jimmy and everyone else should too.
I used Cape Friendly tours for a few tours in Cape Town. Their service was excellent. Most memorable are the private Winelands tour that was customizable were we visited the socially conscious wineries in the area. I also used them for a Langa township walking tour. My guide/driver was knowledgeable and actually lived in the Langa Township. I much appreciated all the information shared.
We had an amazing Sunday visiting Langa, the wonderful church service with legendary gospel singers, the township museum, streets and people.
We learned so much but also felt the positive energy and warm welcome of the people. We felt very safe with our guide so please don’t hesitate to book.

Arriving in Cape Town we had a pretty thorough list of what we thought we wanted to see. Jimmy drove us from the airport to the Welgelegen Guest House.
Conversing with Jimmy during that drive made it crystal clear that Jimmy was the person we wanted to escort us on our Cape Town experience over the next few days. He masterfully coordinated our activities allowing us to squeeze in more that we thought possible, but not in a rushed manner, even optimizing our location based on the time of day and the weather!
Jimmy’s extensive knowledge of the area and ability to communicate it to us profoundly enhanced our experience in the Cape Town area.
We went on a half day township tour with Jimmy and had an experience that definitely enriched our stay in Cape Town. As a group of seven people he made us feel welcome, showed us around his home Langa and explained a lot.
It was important to Jimmy that the people in the township feel respected and that they don’t feel like a tourist attraction.
We recommend strongly to go on a township tour with him, it allows you to see a very important and present part of Cape Town.
